Individualized, Fun, & Engaging On-Court Instruction
There is no more efficient or effective way to develop as a basketball player than to dedicate oneself to consistent, focused, and mindful one-on-one training; however, not all skill work is suitable for all players. Where the vast majority of workouts from other private coaches consist primarily of one-on-one moves that are frequently inapplicable in an organized, team setting, Coach Hopkins takes into account a player's role on their team and the system within which they play, and uses that to inform the content of each player's developmental plan. Based on his extensive experience coaching at nearly every level over the past 15 years, Coach Hopkins has a unique perspective as to what coaches actually look for at the college and professional levels, and tailors every player's workout according to their unique situation and goals. As such, lesson curriculum can vary greatly from player to player depending on each individual's needs.

In most cases, it is necessary to spend a significant portion of lesson time correcting and/or redesigning basic shooting mechanics, fine-tuning passing, ballhandling, and finishing techniques, and learning fundamental, but often underemphasized skills, such as proper post and perimeter footwork, movement without the ball, and effective screen-setting. It's commonly necessary for players to spend a significant amount of time "unlearning" less-than-ideal habits before replacing them with more efficient and effective skills and movement patterns. This process takes time and a great deal of guided repetition, but it is an essential component of player development that is rarely executed as diligently as is necessary for the optimal growth of each individual.
